Prayer is a vital part of the spiritual engagement church planters must face as they engage new communities with the gospel, disciple new believers and gather believers in a new church community. Prayer is an offensive weapon given to every believer. Intentionally lifting up a church planter, their family and team members is a privilege that God has given us as co-laborers.
What to pray?
Pray for the church planter:
* That his heart would be protected, and he would go deep in his walk with the Lord (Prov. 4:23)
* That God would give him insight and wisdom into the needs of the community and God’s priorities for the new work. (Eph. 1:18)
*That the planter would have a passion for the lost that would draw him to share the gospel boldly. (Rom. 1:16)
*That he and his wife would be steadfast and patient waiting for the harvest. (1 Cor. 15:58)
*That God would draw together a core team for this church plant with all the needed gifts. (Gal. 6:2)
Pray for the church plant:
*That God would raise up the need resources for the plant. (1 Thess. 5:24)
*That God’s timing and steps would be evident to all in the church and community. (Ecless. 8:5-6)
*That partners would come to help and walk with the planter. (Phil. 1:3-5)
Pray for the community:
*That God would bring them to himself. (John 6:44)
*That they would want to know God. (Acts 17:47 and Deut. 4:29)
*That they would believe in the Word. (1 Thess. 2:13, Rom. 10:17)
*That Satan would be blocked from prevent them from coming to Christ. (2 Cor. 4:4)
*That the Holy Spirit would work on them and convict them. (John 16:8-13)
*That they would repent of their sins and believe in Jesus. (Acts. 17:30 and Rom. 10:9-10)
*That new believers would be discipled and a body of local believers would grow as one. (Col. 1:18/2:6)
